Two arrested; $75,000 in marijuana seized

A long-term investigation into a drug trafficking organization operating illegal marijuana grows on U.S. Forest Service Property, Bureau of Land Management property and private ranch lands, detectives from the Sheriffs Major Violator Unit developed information allowing them to obtain five search warrants in Kern and Tulare Counties.
On Sept. 21, detectives from the Sheriff's Major Violator Unit, Sheriffs Special Operations Group, and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency executed those warrants; four were served in Delano and one in the city of Earlimart, in Tulare County.
During the service of the search warrants over 30 pounds of processed marijuana ready for sale was seized along with $3,000 in cash and 12 firearms. The street value of the seizure is estimated at $75,000. Two suspects were arrested. Bail has been set at $500,000 for both suspects. The investigation is continuing.
Rosa Mesa, 50, of Earlimart and Victor Pizano, 23, of Delano, were each arrested for possession of marijuana for sales and conspiracy.
Over the past year, detectives have arrested 25 suspects related to drug trafficking organizations operating these illegal marijuana grows. Over 136,000 marijuana plants have been eradicated valued at $340 million.
