A celebration of life was held Saturday, Oct. 20 in honor of long-time Tehachapi resident Lars Curt Oberg, who passed away suddenly Oct. 16.
Lars was born on Sept. 5,1935 in New York City. He served in the United States Army, married his wife Barbara in 1962, and was most proud of the four children they raised together: Lori, Erik, Krista and Bret. They brought him increased joy by giving him four grandchildren: blessings who will certainly miss their Fa Fa.
Lars was employed by the Monolith Portland Cement Company for 39 years and was proud to have worked his way up from the end of a shovel to a Plant Manager position. Following a two-month attempt at retirement, Lars relied upon his love of driving and appreciation of automobiles by accepting a position as a test driver of Honda vehicles.
A loving husband, father and a friend to many, Lars will be remembered for his kind heart and embracing smile. Those who loved him will miss his sharp mind and willingness to share in conversation. His actions always spoke louder than his words. This good man will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to the Tehachapi Warrior Boosters Club, c/o Tehachapi High School.
