It is with great regret to inform all that have been touched by his presence, Jack Crawford also known as “Papa Jack” to his family and friends has been called to the Better Life. He was taken from our lives Oct. 16, 2007 due to a car accident in Lancaster.
He left us with great memories and stories to tell that would always have you laughing to tears. His humor and quick-witted comments will always be remembered. Papa Jack in his earlier years was a dirt bike fanatic, referred to as the “Wheely King,” tearing up the dunes and desert trails like no other. Another interest he had was his love for the game of Golf, where he became a threat for all who played him. “FORE,” was a saying that he would always use as his greeting with a smile.
Papa Jack was great at a multitude of things. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to all. He was also kind hearted and dependable, you always knew that you could count on him. His hard work paid off for him in 2001 when he retired from being self-employed as a well respected machinist at Central Coast Machine in Santa Monica, Calif.
During his retirement he and his bride of 27 years set out and conquered 42 states in 2 years, before relocating and settling down in Tehachapi, where he decided that retirement was a little boring for him. He found employment with KETT, Honda Inc. He loved his job and loved talking about it. He was chosen as employee of the month for being one of the safest drivers to be recognized and his loyalty to his hard work. He was proud to be labeled as a dependable and positive role model. He has also been labeled by all that have had the privilege of meeting him as “a wonderful man.” He has brought so much joy and laughter to our lives and will be missed dearly.
Papa Jack leaves behind his loving wife, Lupe Crawford; children, John V. Crawford, Brian L. Crawford and daughter-in-law Kelly, Adam and Diane Bernal, Anthony and Dannille Bernal, Deanna and Joseph Ambrecht, Armando Bernal; thirteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Reed, Wendell, Elton Ambrose; sisters, Oline, Gertrude, Ethna, Freda and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Amelia Ambrose and sister Alamae Newton.
A memorial service will be held in Fresno, Calif. on Oct. 27, 2007 at 1 p.m.
