After members enjoyed lunch, President Ivy Lembert, conducted a business meeting and in lieu of the planned program, read a paper she had written, “Listen with your Heart.”

Members, discussed plans for a yard sale to be held Nov. 3 in Dr. Warsaw’s parking lot at 20211 Valley Blvd. Proceeds will help fund various philanthropic projects which the group supports.

The sorority voted to send $50 to Rescue Mission for Thanksgiving dinners for the needy. Also donations were made to Caring and Sharing in Tehachapi, and to the Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault in Bakersfield. The Alliance needs fabric tote bags which sorority members plan to sew as an ongoing project.
Arlene Weed reported on her attendance at a meeting of eight California councils in Fresno. She showed a black velvet bag which had been made for chapter members to collect donations for Lupus, Cystic Fibrosis, Scleroderma the Stanford Kidney Research project which the chapter supports.

The meeting concluded with a Preceptor Ritual for Olene Shannon. It was read by Fran Hughey.

Several members went to Bakersfield Oct. 10 to lunch at the Guild House and shopping. A planned outing to the Gene Autry Museum was later postponed because of the fires and smoke in the area.

Next meeting will be at Willow Springs Estates on Nov. 16. Olene Shannon will have the program. Maureen Warsaw will be hostess.
