Google, an Internet search engine, picked up a recent article from the Tehachapi News stating that Talmarc Productions, headquartered in Tehachapi, had signed a number of top drawer actors for a new western movie entitled “The Hard Ride.” A widely-read film industry Web site saw the Google report and gently challenged the accuracy of the News, claiming there was no evidence that Hollywood heavy weight, including Val Kilmer, Elizabeth Shue, Karl Urban and Luke Wilson had been signed for the production.

Bob “Bear” Turner, of Tehachapi, owner of Talmarc with his son Thadd, said it didn't take long for the industry Web site to realize it had been scooped by a country weekly paper. The brief mix-up had to do with a time lag between when acting contracts are signed and when they are officially reported, Turner said. “The Hard Ride” will be the first Talmarc movie destined for theaters. Up to now the company's movies have been marketed on DVD only.

Meanwhile, Talmarc received more valuable publicity when its Yuletide season production, “Christmas at Sage Creek”, was given a highly complimentary review in the latest issue of the 300-page slick magazine “Cowboys & Indians,” reputed to be the most popular western history magazine in the world.

“Christmas at Sage Creek” will be released on DVD later this month, Turner said. It is a re-editing of the Talmarc movie “Miracle at Sage Creek” with additional scenes added that are appropriate to the holiday season, Turner explained.

Reviewer David Hofstede said “Christmas at Sage Creek” is told “with no profanity or graphic violence. As befitting an uplifting holiday story (it) is ideal family viewing.”
