Tehachapi's VFW Post 5948 held a flag raising ceremony honoring American veterans on Sunday, Nov. 10.
Post Commander Mike Minton, of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, was joined by his young son Zachary, who donned fatigues for the occasion. Minton gave a stirring speech honoring the commitment and sacrifices U.S. service men and women have made for all Americans, that produced more mist than the day's heavy mountain fog.
Former post Commander Jim Elliot, U.S. Army, and Tom Webber, a former U.S. Marine raised the colors and provided a single gun salute. Local veteran Bill Gallagher provided the music. The flag raising ceremony was followed by an All American pot luck luncheon.
