Chuck Lewter and his Chadeau Mountain Clydesdales sure get around.
Lewter recently teamed up two of his horses, Grace and Patty, to one of his wagons to ride guests around Brite Lake. The tour was given to showcase the clean-up effort going on at the lake. These two 2000 pound horses made pulling the wagon seem almost effortless despite the fact the two are in foal and due to give birth in the spring.
Helping drive the team was Brittani Street, 11, who recently was featured in The News about competing in the Rocky Mountain Regional Clydesdale Show in Ogden, Utah, aboard Grace.
Lewter and his horse Robyncroft Perfect Son, AKA "Sonny", also placed second in the Stallion Halter Class at the World Clydesdale Show, held in Madison, Wis. The two were fourth in the Stallion Cart Class, competing against horses from the U.S. and Canada. Lewter said the horses literally “rocked” the house as these giants shook the arena while competing in the driving event pulling their carriages. He said there were more than 500 Clydesdales in attendance including the Budweiser Clydesdales. One stood 19.5 hands. Pretty big when you considered most quarter horses stand 14.3-15 hands. For more information on Lewter and his horses, call 333-3519.

Moors also working with the Wild Wind Ranch (Highline Rd.) to host an Extreme Speed Gymkhana series. The next two events will be held Jan. 6 and 27. The events include barrels, poles and a mystery speed race. The cost is $35 per day. Call for more information.
On a personal note, our stallion Plain Gold Colonel, AKA Fudge, recently finished the 2007 Valley Cowhorse Association circuit, which ran from February through November. In the Fall Finale held in Porterville, he was Reserve Champion in the Open Reining class. That was good enough for Fudge and trainer Steve Pate to move into third place overall in the final rankings in Open Reining. The two also scored well enough in the last event of Working Cowhorse to also move into third place for the season.
Two local girls also did well in the final VCHA Junior standings. Rachel Taylor and Oglesby placed third and fourth, respectively, in both Youth Reining and Working Cowhorse.
Trainer Matt Sheridan will be a guest on the Rick Lamb The Horse Show on RFD-TV. The interview will air Dec. 11, 12 and 16. You also can hear a radio interview with Sheridan and Lamb at www.thehorseshow.com.
For those who love shopping for anything horse related, it's time to visit Las Vegas from Dec. 6 to 16. The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) takes place at that time, but when you're not at the Rodeo, there also are conventional halls full of everything you ever could imagine for your horse's needs.

The Cowboy Christmas is the longest running gift show of the NFR. It's at the Las Vegas Convention Center, just one block east of the Las Vegas Strip. There is free shuttle service from the Cowboy Christmas to the Thomas & Mack Center for each night's rodeo performance. Click www.nfrexperience.com for more information.
