Visitation began Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hillcrest Mortuary. Services were held Nov. 28 at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel for Robert Metzler who passed away on Nov. 21, 2007, at a Bakersfield Hospital.
He was born in Los Angeles, California on March 9, 1939 to parents, Charles and Margaret Metzler. At a very early age the family moved to Tehachapi and lived there for a good part of Bob’s life, which he loved. He joined the Navy and served his country for four years. After that he had numerous jobs. He was also in Real Estate, then Metzler Construction for twenty five years until his retirement. Bob enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time in his RV at Pismo Beach.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Melba Metzler, they had 16 wonderful years together; brother, Leo Metzler; sisters, Dolores Lischio and Florence Johnson; and a brother, Chuck Metzler, who preceded him in death. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews; 2 stepsons, Bob Dykes of Oregon and Mike Dykes of Missouri; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be James Lischio, Fred Lischio, John Lischio, Jim Smith, Art Ottinger and Terry Lake.
We love you and you will always be in our hearts and we will cherish all our memories.
