Archie William Adkins, a resident of Tehachapi for 16 years, left this world on his 92nd Birthday in his home on Bald Mountain Drive, in Tehachapi. Daddy requested that no memorial services be held.
He so very gently passed to the peaceful glory of love. Our sweet, faithful, honorable, kind, gentle, caring and loving Daddy, Husband, and Grandpa will be missed greatly and forever. We will be with him again someday in the Heavens prepared for us all.
Below is the content of a poem Dad clipped from a newspaper and left for us in a drawer filled with other clippings on global warming. He understood we would need guidance to understand and to know how to feel and cope after He was gone. This poem (clipping) was his way of expressing his feelings to us, and has taken us to a different level of understanding, what a wonderful gift of his love. These words helped him to be able to leave, knowing that he was leaving “wisdom to live” for us left without him. Thank you Dad, we loved you, your wonderful intelligent mind and caring heart. You were faithful to your family and a true guide to all men, as to what true character; love, faithfulness, duty, loyalty, commitment and Christianity are all about. You were honest, caring, giving, with a powerful commitment to family, a true gentlemen and family man.
Dear Loved One
You are not forgotten
Nor will you ever be
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee
This is a journey
We must all take
And each must go alone
It's all part of the Master's plan
Just a step on the road toward home
You are away, yet ever near,
Your presence fills each day
Your voice and your smile
Are ever present
A memory away
Now you are gone
But in our hearts
You are - and will always be
A part of everything we do or say
You left with us many memories
Your love is still our guide
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side
