The new television mini-series that premiered Dec. 2 on the SciFi channel, has nothing on Tehachapi. Tehachapi has a Tin Man (actually two tin men) of its own.
It's been said that one man's trash is another man's treasure. When local resident Bill Sasnett found “one man's trash” he turned it into treasures that dangle proudly from the clothes line poles in his back yard.
Sasnett says he has received numerous offers to purchase the twin Tin Man replicas.
“I always tell them 'They're not for sale' and interrupt them when they won't take “no” for an answer and tell them 'I don't want to know what I'm turning down so don't even tell me how much you're offering,'” he said with a smile.
The new 6-hour television mini series was replayed Dec. 8-9, putting a new slant on the classic, Wizard of Oz, with a modern “Dorothy” (DG) trying to locate her parents and the heartless Tin Man attempting to revenge the death of his wife and son in the “Outer Zone.”
