Rose Maria Niadas, of Bakersfield, passed away in Lancaster, peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 28, 2007. She was 84-years-old. Born on Feb. 4, 1923 in Tehachapi, to Pete and Maria Niadas. Rose lived most of her life in Bakersfield, the last five years with her daughter.

She worked as a waitress in Tehachapi in the 1940s then as a laundrymat attendant in Bakersfield, and as a fieldworker all around the Bakersfield valley.

Preceding her in death are her parents, brother, sisters, and grandson, David.

Survivors include her only child, Rose Mary Gibson and husband Art Gibson, of North Edwards. Rose was blessed with four grandchildren, Kathy and Terry Christman, Bob and Cindy Gibson, Clint Gibson, all from Eastern Washington and Steve Gibson, from North Edwards, Rose was blessed again with seven great-grandchildren, Dallas Gibson, in the US Army in Hawaii, Natalie, an RN, and her husband, George Seubert, Daniel Gibson, Dillon Gibson, Ashley, a cosmetologist, and Emily and Clint James Gibson. Great-grandchildren all from Eastern Washington. Rose was going to be blessed with a great-great-grandchild in July, 2008. She is also survived by Mark Armstrong, of Bishop, a good friend who was like a grandson.

The family would especially like to thank Renee and Don Startup for helping with all the food that was prepared, while our loved one was sick. Our thanks goes out to Hoffman Hospice for helping with our loved one.

No services were made, just a family gathering to remember different occasions about mom and grandma, “the goose,” which Steve always called her. She has gone home to be free from all pain. God saw that she was getting tired and put his arms around her and lifted her up to heaven.
