Tehachapi Senior Center served up pancakes, eggs and bacon to about 75 people on Dec. 1 as a precursor to its Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale, according to Joanna Berman, the manager of the center.
“We had reservations for 30 and ended up serving more than double!” she said
A second trip to the store for more eggs and bacon was required.
“We cooked up about 11 dozen eggs, 10 pounds of bacon and served four gallons of orange juice,” she added.
Several large packages of buttermilk pancake mix were required to keep up with the demand.
Several local residents and organizations participated in the Christmas bazaar, Berman said.
“And we had a tremendous response for our baked goods sale. I thought I had most of the goodies on Friday, but they just kept coming on Saturday morning by the plateful and even in shoe boxes,” she added with a smile.
This is the second year for the breakfast but the first for the bazaar, according to Berman.
“Next year we'll plan to be part of the Shop Tehachapi weekend,” she said.
