Mail from the Mayor: Give and you shall receive

0 responses 0 comments Wow! I can't believe it is only a few days till Christmas. I still haven't finished all my shopping and I am dreading the thought of not knowing what to buy for all my loved ones. But then again, I get a smile on my face just visualizing my grandchildren opening their presents...How they will laugh and giggle and give grandpa and grandma happy hugs and kisses...Man, it doesn't get any better than that!

But, let's not lose sight of the fact that there will be those who are not going to have any kind of Christmas. If we all make an effort to find a person or a family who may not be able to “celebrate” this Christmas because they can't afford it, then maybe we can make them feel better by giving them a present. It doesn't have to be something expensive, it is just the thought of your giving that makes others feel loved and wanted. And as a giver, you will feel better also.

I only have about three weeks left as your Mayor. My only hope is that I have given you good representation and have helped instill the idea that Quality of Life in Tehachapi is at the highest level ever. In upcoming columns, I would like to write about some of the fun things that I have been involved in while I was your Mayor. I hope to describe for you the thoughts and reflections of a person who has lived his dream: To proudly represent the city that he grew up in.

In the meantime, smile. And when we see each other in town, let me know how good you feel about our great City of Tehachapi.
