On Dec. 13, the Tehachapi Heritage League held it's annual dinner with catering provided by The Apple Shed Restaurant. League President Charles White thanked the board and the hard working members for a successful year and gave some insight into next year’s projects and goals.

A special, “Thank you” was given to Del Troy for her 34 years of service to the organization as a founding member.

Also honored were lifetime members (just a few months less than Troy) Jerrie and Harry Cowan, as well as Jerrie's mother Dottie Newton. It's these lifetime member’s dedication to the preservation of Tehachapi's history that has kept the Heritage League alive all these years.

One of the biggest notes of achievement for this year has been the success of various sales events held at the Errea House. Various items donated by local members and a large number of elegant antiques donated by Merrily and Frank Flanagan has allowed the Errea House Restoration Fund to exceed $15,000. These funds will now be spent on efforts to restore the home to a condition reflecting the era when the Errea family lived there. Restoration is scheduled to be completed in time for the city's centennial celebration in 2009.

The Tehachapi Heritage League is also responsible for the operation of the Tehachapi Museum and they are always looking for new members and docents. Those interested can contact the organization at 822-8152 or contact THL President Charles White at 972-0958.
