Margaret Lillian Aragon Bivins, a long time Tehachapi resident, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 in Carmichael, Calif. She was 62. The Vigil Service was held, Thursday evening, Dec. 13 and the Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Friday morning, Dec. 14 at St. Malachy Catholic Church.
Margie was born May 6, 1945, to parents Lee and Delfina Aragon in Denver, Colo. When Margie moved to Tehachapi, she was a cook at the old Mountain Inn and Bowling Alley. She left the area to take a job with the Department of Corrections in San Diego as a cook. But she really did much more than that. Margie was very much a “hands on” person and handled many different activities for the department of personnel including company picnics and organized activities.
Margie was an avid football fan. It was while she was in San Diego that she was introduced to John Elway at a San Diego Chargers and Denver Bronco game. He gave her a signed football and it became her prized possession. From that time forward she was a Denver Bronco fan. Margie continued to work for the state, in Tehachapi and Franklin. She retired in May of this year and moved to Cameron Park to stay with her youngest sister, Beatrice.
Margie is survived by her mother, Delfina Aragon, and dear friend, Manuel Huerta, of Colorado; brothers, Lee and Val Aragon, of Tehachapi, Robert and Bernadette Aragon, of San Marcos, Angel and Jan Aragon, of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister, Elsie and Raymond Fletcher, of Lake Benton, Minn.; the love of her life, her baby sister, Beatrice Aragon, of Sacramento; nieces and nephews, Cindy and Lloyd Hammers, Veronica and Paul Kaufman, Roberta Aragon, Marlena Simpson, Monica Aragon, Valorie and Greg Christy, Francine and Mario Lopez, Beth and Allen Withnow, Ernie and Liz Aragon, Tina and Yancy Sischo, Frank Ledesma, Marcie and Mark Felsoci, Eric Tijerina, Alex Tijerina; 32 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew.
Interment followed the mass at Tehachapi Public Cemetery Westside. Father Joel Davadilla performed the services. A reception for family and friends was held at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. handled the arrangements.
