Horse Thief Women’s Golf Club holds awards luncheon

The Horse Thief Women's Golf Club in Stallion Springs held their annual Christmas awards luncheon, Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Lodge of Woodward West.
New officers were installed by Ruth Messenger with a “candy bars” theme. The tables were decorated with baskets and poinsettias and the members brought toys and gifts which were given to the Stallion Springs Police Department for the Jamison Center in Bakersfield. The annual luncheon honors those who have won special tournaments during the year and installs the officers for 2008.
Members honored for special achievements were: President's cup - Betty Buss; Club Champion - Linda Cross; Ace of the Year - Judy Theriault and the well kept surprise of the afternoon, Most Improved: Dee Grayson.
The officers for 2008 are: Carol Duncan, President; Betty Jackson, 1st Vice President/ Tournament; Maureen Reilly, 2nd Vice President; Betty Buss Secretary; Sandi Lambert Treasurer; Dianne Cooper Handicap/Membership; and Joan Smullins WSCGA Representative. President, Carol Duncan, announced the committee chairmen for the coming year and thanked the outgoing officers for their dedicated work.
HTWGC sponsored several additional tournaments during the year 2007; Teri Walker Memorial; Dave Theriault Memorial; Championship Tournament in memory of lifetime member Mickey Buffalow; President's Cup; Big Sister, Little Sister; Flag Tournament on July 4 and Halloween's Orange Ball. All games and tournaments are played at Horse Thief Country Club in Stallion Springs.
