Shirley was born and raised in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Kroeger on June 18, 1963. Shirley and Joe later moved to Lancaster, Calif. where they raised their three children, Kirk, Kent, and Kristi. Shirley spent most of her time raising her three children and being their number one supporters while they participated in Lancaster Youth Football and Baseball. She also coached and managed Little League Softball. Shirley was always there to cheer her daughter on at her high school and college volleyball games. Everyone knew that Shirley was in the stands. In her spare time, she held a variety of careers, she worked retail for several years with Helen’s Toy Store, worked on the B-1 Bomber as a flight-ops mechanic for Rockwell, as well as a Pharmacy Technician for Thrifty Drug Store for many years. No matter what her working hours were, she always managed to be there for her children. When she finished raising her children, she devoted her time, energy, and love to her grandchildren, great - grandchildren and her pets. Shirley and Joe relocated to Tehachapi in 1990. Shirley enjoyed the beach, watching NASCAR, football, but most of all she loved her family.
Shirley is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Joseph, their three children and their spouses, her grandchildren, Cassandra, Erika, Stephanie, Jessika, Justin Monika, Joey, Alissa, Tyler, Aryn, Angelika, Peyton, and her great -grandchildren, Makayla, Marissa, and Andrew. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth Ann, in Carrollton, Texas; as well as numerous relatives and friends. They will all miss Shirley very much, but take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on.
A celebration of Shirley’s life is planned at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Friday Jan. 4 at 2 p.m. Services will be officiated by David Geddie. There will e a reception to follow at the Kroeger’s home in Tehachapi. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made in Shirley’s name to your local animal shelter or the ASPCA.
