The Gandy Dancers opportunity quilt “Guardians of the Coast” was won by Tehachapi resident Susan Anderson. Her winning ticket was drawn from over 1500 entries at the Gandy Dancers New Years Eve dance. As a quilter, Susan is able to full appreciate the hand-appliqued landscape quilt and she has already designated a special place in her Bear Valley home to showcase this exceptionally beautiful piece of folk art. The multicolored quilt highlights thirteen lighthouses set on rolling hills above a rugged coastline. This original 80 inch wide, 80 inch long quilt was designed and created by Frosti Acord, a master quilter and also a member of the Tehachapi Gandy Dancers Square Dance club. Monies from ticket sales will be used to promote youth square dancing in the Tehachapi area.
