Carol Barker Christensen unexpectedly passed away Jan. 28 in the Utah Valley Hospital, Provo, Utah from a brain hemorrhage. She was 69-years-old.

She was born March 6, 1938 in Logan, Utah to William Vermont Barker and Rozella Beatrice Laursen.

She attended the Logan schools where she was active in student activities including student Colonel of the Sponsor Corps. She attended Utah State University graduating with a composite degree in Elementary Education and Special Education.

She married R. Halbert Christensen in the Logan Temple, March 18, 1959. They lived 37 years in California where they raised their five children. She was a mother and homemaker until the children were raised. She then returned to the classroom where she taught all ages from kindergarten through high school, spending most of her time as a 2nd grade teacher. She and her husband lived in Tehachapi for nearly twenty years. Carol was an elementary school teacher at Golden Hills School until they moved to Utah several years ago.Teaching was one of the joys of her life. She loved the children and the children loved her.

She was active in the LDS Church having served in all of the women auxiliary organizations as a teacher and/or a member of the presidency. She and her husband served a mission to Indonesia and Thailand. At the time of her death they were ordinance workers in the Manti temple and serving in a Branch Presidency in the Provo MTC. She served on writing committees for the church and has a strong testimony of the resurrection.

She is survived by her husband R. Halbert Christensen; daughters Teri Remsberg and her husband, Dirk, Nanette Cutler and her husband, Brad, and sons Kert Christensen and his wife, Catherine, Daniel Christensen and his wife, Monique, Lance Christensen  and his wife Malinda, and a “son,” Barita Siregar (Sukma), of Indonesia.

They have 23 grandchildren.

Services were held on Feb. 3, in Utah. Internment followed in the Ephraim Cemetery on Feb. 4.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Snow College Reuel E. and Vonda Christensen Scholarship fund in the name of Carol Ann Christensen, 150 East College Avenue, Box 1040, Ephraim, Utah 84627.
