Mary Alta Dyer passed away on Feb. 6, 2008.
Mary was born in Los Angeles on Nov. 30, 1933, the daughter of Robert and Marie Peterson.
After graduating from Santa Monica City College, Mary worked as a secretary for General Electric Company. After raising her five children, Mary went back to work with Litton Aero Products in Woodland Hills.
Her hobbies included gardening, painting, collecting dolls and antiques and loving her children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gerald. Also surviving her are her son John Dyer and his wife Brenda; son Eric Dyer and his wife Jeab; daughter Roseann Fancy and her husband Loren; daughter Gail Holloway and her husband Dwayne; and daughter Suzanne Krantz and her husband Jack. Also surviving Mary are her twelve grandchildren; Shawn and Cory Fancy; Kelsey and Tara Holloway; Christopher, Sara and Adam Dyer; Shayna and Bridget Dowd; Anthony, Sophia and Joshua Dyer; her sister Jon Dodge; nephews Brent and Michael Dodge and families.
Preceding Mary in death was her daughter, Julie Kay and her parents Robert and Marie Peterson.
Mary was a member of Catholic Daughters of St. Malachy Church.
A vigil service was held Feb. 8 at Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel and the Mass of the Resurrection was held on Feb. 9 at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Interment followed at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Lancaster. Father Joel Davadilla conducted the services. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. handled the arrangements.
