“All aboard!”
Heritage Oak School is hosting “Twilight on the Orient Express,” a fundraising event for the private school, on Friday, March 14. Most importantly, the event will be a tribute to the Greater Tehachapi area firefighters with each of the local firehouses receiving the school’s “Light Award” for their dedication and commitment to our community.
A silent auction will start the train wheels rolling at 5:30 p.m., as students begin serving dim sum hors d'oeuvres to the passengers. At 6:30 p.m. an elegant Chinese dinner of Chinese chicken salad, lemon chicken, chow mein, and beef broccoli will delight the palette of the “travelers.” Dessert will be served during the live auction. Dan Schaffer from KAXL Radio is the train's engineer and Master of Ceremonies.
The silent auction includes, among other items and services, dinners at Tehachapi area restaurants, sports tickets, including a Dodger game, white water rafting, books, and gift baskets. The live auction will feature vacation get-aways in Waikiki, San Antonio, Disneyland, and stays at a New Jersey and Los Angeles Hilton.
Boarding passes are $25 each. According to “Conductor” Cliff Reynolds, reservations can be made by calling 823-0885 or in person at the school office. Gold and silver table sponsorships are available at $300 and $250 respectively.
The Orient Express will be departing from Heritage Oak School located at Country Oaks Baptist Church, 20915 Schout Road. For a town known for its railroad heritage, this train trip will be noteworthy!
