Martha E. Swanson, also known as mom and grandma to her family, and Martha to her friends, crossed over peacefully at home with the great love of her life, her husband Robert E. Swanson, and her son, Richard J. Huckabey at her side.

Mom left us with great memories, and she always had stories to tell that would always have you laughing. Her humor, her quick-witted comments, her letting you know that she was the boss, her beautiful blue eyes, her smile, her love for her husband, children and pets will always be remembered.

Her beautiful spirit, her generosity, her unconditional love and devotion she had for her husband, her children, her friends and her pets could only come from her Lord Jesus Christ.

Mom gave loyalty to being the best at what she was; a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a friend — and to teaching her children that she was the best friend and mother that they could have in the whole wide world. She was a wonderful person, who brought much joy, laughter and love to all she touched. She will be missed dearly.

Mom was born in Denver, Colo. on April 30, 1938. She grew up in Hollywood, and worked for the Los Angeles Times as a proofreader. In 1964, mom met the great love of her life, Robert E. Swanson. After many moves up and down California and Nevada, she made Tehachapi her home in 1976. She worked at Golden Hills and Stallion Springs Country Clubs.

In 1990 she moved to Littlerock, Calif. with her husband. She enjoyed her new home, cooking, sewing, painting flowers and spending time with her husband.

Mom is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doc Peterson, of Hollywood; her sons, Mike Huckabey, of Bellingham, Wash., Henry Huckabey, of Tehachapi, and her daughter, Vickie Huckabey, of Bellingham.

She leaves behind the great love of her life, her husband Robert E. Swanson, of Littlerock; her son, Richard J. Huckabey, of Tehachapi, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In mom’s own words, “God will not give you any more than you can handle.”

Good bye for now, my best friend, my mother, for I will miss you much the rest of life here on earth. The Lord will bring us all together once more.

— Love, Your son Richard
