Ed was born in St. Louis, Mo. on Sept. 16, 1923. He passed away on Feb. 25, 2008.

He was a quiet, gentle man and very active throughout his life. He served as a cook and baker in the Merchant Marines from 1942 to 1945. After his discharge he went to engineering school to become a design engineer, and worked on the design of both the space shuttle and B-2 Bomber.

While living in the San Fernando Valley, he helped serve his community as a reserve police officer. After his retirement, Ed moved to Tehachapi, and again got involved in the community. He was elected to the board of directors of the water board in Golden Hills, serving as president in his last position. He was very instrumental in many changes of the area.

Having a love for community service and the law, Ed then joined the CSU, as a volunteer of the Kern County Sherrif’s Department, and was very active until his health prevented him from continuing.

Ed was proud and honored to be a 32nd Degree Mason.

Ed had a favorite saying that he always repeated:

“I had a hat when I came in, and I’ll have a hat when I go out. I am a peaceful man, I am, I am, but I am here to shout, I had a hat when I came in, and I’ll have a hat when I go out.”

Ed leaves behind his wife Babe and four daughters, Paulette, Laura, Jeanne, and Trudy.
