James Lee McCallie, born Feb. 28, 1937, in Wetumpka, Okla., passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, in Bakersfield.

Jim, the son of Ray and Geneva McCallie, both deceased, was the brother of Betty Holland, of Bakersfield, and Ed McCallie, residing in Mexico.

The family moved to Bakersfield in the late 1940s. Jim was a graduate of Bakersfield High School and attended Bakersfield College.

James is survived by his wife, Pat, and their daughters and their spouses, Debbie and Mike Rendon, Susan and John Rolin; four grandchildren; his sister and brother; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; eight nieces and nephews; and extensive extended family.

Jim worked 37 years for Safeway and Vons stores in Taft, Bakersfield, and Mojave, prior to his retirement. After retirement, Jim worked for Woods Family Funeral Home in Tehachapi.

A longtime resident of the Bakersfield area, Jim, is respected and appreciated by his many friends and colleagues. Jim loved his family most of all, enjoyed golfing with friends, going to his grandson's football games, proud of his Navy grandson, and spoiling his granddaughters.

The memorial service was held Friday, March 7, at Bakersfield First Assembly of God. Interment was at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery.
