The Tehachapi Heritage League expresses their gratitude and thanks for all the help provided for the new sign at the historic arrastra in the Railroad Park.
Thanks to Ken Vandeventer, of Tehachapi Rock and Landscape Materials, for donating the beautiful piece of sandstone.
Thanks to Ron Whipple, of Prime Signs, for donating the awesome engraving work on the sign.
Thanks to Michelle Vance, of Main Street, for transporting the sign to the park and having city workers there to unload and place the sign at the arrastra.
Thanks also to Bud Lutge for allowing the arrastra to be moved from his property to Railroad Park in 1981, and thanks to Dennis Lutge and Dinah Lutge for helping with placement of the new sign.
What is an arrastra? Stop in front of the Tehachapi Chamber Office and visit the arrastra on the west side of the Chamber. The arrastra is a small piece of Tehachapi's history of the gold mining days.
