St. Malachy parishioners have an opportunity to have the final word regarding the proposed plan for renovation of their parish church. The existing plan has come back from the bishop with a conditional approval, namely, if the money is raised. The Bishop has given the approved plans back to the people for a vote. If the parishioners want these plans as approved for the renovation of their church, they will then raise the funds for the renovation. If, however, they do not want what is presently planned, they may show their disapproval by not supporting the fund raising effort.

Each person’s decision should be based on the formation of a right conscience concerning the renovation project. If you feel the present plan is too extravagant, unnecessary, too costly and in poor taste for the citizens of Tehachapi, then elect not to support the fund raising effort.

If you feel that it would be better to renovate the church as needed to adequately refurbish the facility for years to come, and that it would be better to spend large amounts for renovation to build a mission church in Cummings Valley, Bear Valley and Stallion Springs areas, then elect not to financially support the present plan.
Or if your conscience tells you otherwise, then follow it and vote with your conscience.
