Wasco was able to muster a victory at No. 1 singles, but it was all Tehachapi from there as the Warriors opened up the South Sequoia League season with a team victory over the Tigers.

David Croy (6-2, 6-4), Ryan Grisso (6-1, 6-0), Kevin Cunningham (4-6, 6-4 [10-5]), Marc Keehmer (6-2, 1-6 [10-7]), and Evan Bennett (6-2, 6-2) all won in singles, while Tyler Thoms and Croy (7-6 (7-3), 6-3), Grisso and Cunningham (6-2, 6-2), and Dylan Shafter and Austin Zehr (6-2, 6-0) won in doubles.

Zehr, a freshman, made his debut on the varsity team after an impressive pre-season stint with the junior varsity team in singles.

Tehachapi’s match with Bakersfield Christian was scheduled for last Thursday, but was re-scheduled to March 31 (Monday) due to the Eagles participation in the Lynch Cup in Bakersfield.

The Warriors (4-0; 1-0 SSL) will next take on Shafter (varsity away, junior varsity home) this Tuesday. First serve will be at 3:30 p.m.

The Braves (4-0; 1-0 SSL) closed up pre-season play with a victory over Palmdale-Highland, taking down the Bulldogs by a 7-4 team count.
Dan Gillam (6-2, 6-1), Austin Zehr (6-0, 6-0) and Joseph Theisen (6-0, 6-1) all won in singles while Derrick Boutte and Luke Boyd teamed up to win in doubles (6-2, 6-3).

The Braves were awarded their first league victory of the season via forfeit against Wasco, and will have their home debut next Tuesday against Shafter.
