The main purpose of Veteran Memorial Buildings is to provide a community with a locale for memorializing the local Veterans within these buildings. These Memorial Buildings are also for bringing together the Veteran Organizations in providing needed service programs to military personnel (active & discharged), their families as well as the local community without interference in the Veterans Organizations use of these buildings. Military paraphernalia aand symbols are collected and / or donated by the families of Veterans to be displayed similiar to a museum. This allows the community the visual experience and history of why the United States of America maintains it's "democracy and freedom" due to the sacrifices of the men and women of the military.

Veteran Organizations within Kern County has been struggling for years in the use of Veteran Memorial Buildings. Kern County officials and Parks and Recreation have stated that they require the Veteran Organizations to write them for permission of displaying patriotic symbols and activities within these Memorial Buildings. Kern County fails to reconize the California Military and Veterans Code which is under the authority of the State Attorney General's code interpretation / enforcement which gives the Veteran Organizations rights to perform activities within these Memorial Buildings with out interference.
