It's that time of the year again no matter if there is snow outside or 75 degree heat. Yup, budget preparation time. It's never an easy time, almost always tedious and demanding. This year will be no different. I would like to share with you now, a notice that was sent to me as it concerns our Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Parks District & how this will affect our budget.
The Kern County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), will be holding a public hearing to consider the detachment of Bear Valley Springs from the Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Parks District, and the Bear Mountain Recreation & Parks District. If the detachment is approved, the following will happen: property taxes collected from taxpayers in Bear Valley Springs of which have been going to the above mentioned districts, will be redirected to Bear Valley Springs for their own recreational facilities and programs. The results of this action will mean a decrease in the revenues for recreational services in both the Tehachapi Valley & Bear Mountain Recreation & Parks District. There will be increased fees for those living in Bear Valley Springs if they wish to use either of these two districts services, programs, or facilities.
The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at 5 p. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, located at 1115 Truxton Avenue, Bakersfield If you would like to express your opinion about this proposal, you may attend and express your views in person, or can write the Kern County LAFCO at 5300 Lennox Avenue Suite 303, Bakersfield, California 93309.
Please make your opinion known about this very important subject. The Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District appreciates your involvement and we look forward to a positive outlook in light of this demanding time.
