On March 14 and 15, the Tehachapi Police Department’s Explorer’s Post competed in a two day physical, tactical and police scenario based competition at the Imperial County Fair Grounds in El Centro, California against 20 other Police Explorer Posts.
The 13 young men and woman of the Tehachapi Post competed in over 15 events and placed in seven different events. The events and their rankings were: 2nd Place - Obstacle Course; 3rd Place - Tug of War; 3rd Place - Marijuana Field Raid; 4th Place - Bicycle Course; 4th Place - High Risk Vehicle Stops; 5th Place - Tactical Active Shooter Course; 5th Place - Pistol Range (Partners combined score).

Explorer Post leaders, Senior Officer’s Scott Ketcham and Mike Christian have recently formed the new Explorer Post and have had only seven months to train the new Explorers. Their commitment and dedication were key to their success as a team stated Officer Ketcham.

The members of the Tehachapi Police Department are extremely proud of the Explorer Post and congratulate them on their success, teamwork and representing the Tehachapi Police Department and themselves in a positive light.
