The Warriors won 12 out of 14 events, while the Lady Warriors’ Alyssa Fechner and Persephonie Devereaux won two events apiece to help vault Tehachapi to victories in South Sequoia League duel action.


The Warriors finished with a team win by a 64-39 score, with Josh Snider winning the 1600 meters (3:10.19) and 800 meter races (2:18.69) and Sergei Horowitz taking gold in the 400 meter (54.55) and 200 meter (24.41) races. Richard Guiles also garnered first place honors in the 110 high hurdles (16.97) and the 300 meter (46.97) race.


Tehachapi’s varsity girls finished with a 68-53 win, with Persephonie Devereaux capturing first in the long jump (13 feet, 3/4 inches) and the high jump (4 feet, 4 inches) while Alyssa Fechner broke the tape in the 100 meters (13.54) and 200 meters (29.47).


In the frosh/soph division, Taft took both team wins with an 85-43 victory in the boys division and an 82-31 win in the girls division. Despite the defeat, Michael Minjares won in the 1600 meters and 800 meters, Josh Cone took first in the 100 and 200 meter races, Natalie Cone won the long jump, Katy Miles finished with the gold in the 400 meters, and Tehachapi won the 4x100 meter race.


All four track teams will travel to Arvin to take on the Bears this Wednesday starting at 3:30 p.m. The frosh/soph track team will also travel to Bakersfield this Friday to participate in the Liberty High School “Patriot Games” at 4 p.m.
