Mountain Tennis defeats Shafter

Description: Tehachapi remains undefeated with victory over the Generals

Two league matches into the season the Warriors are still riding high with positive results, with Shafter the latest opponent to fall by an 8-1 team score.


Tyler Thoms (6-0, 6-1), David Croy (6-3, 6-3), Ryan Grisso (6-2, 6-1), Kevin Cunningham (6-3, 6-4) and Marc Keehmer (6-4, 4-6 [10-5]) all won in singles, while Thoms/Croy (6-2, 7-5), Grisso/Cunningham (6-0, 6-4), and Bryan Shaffer and Luke Boyd (7-6 [7-1], 6-3) won in doubles.


So far on the year, Tehachapi (5-0; 2-0 SSL) has defeated Palmdale-Highland, Lancaster, North-Bakersfield, Wasco, and Shafter nearing the halfway mark of the season.


This week will bring a big test for the Warriors, with matches set against Taft (Tuesday) and Wasco (Thursday) all at home. Each match will start at 3:30 p.m.
Junior Varsity


Like their varsity counterparts, the Braves continue to remain undefeated on the season with their latest victory coming by way of a 6-3 count over the Shafter Bucks.


Dan Gillam (6-3, 7-5), Derrick Boutte (6-0, 6-1), Joe Theisen (6-0, 6-0), Nathan Rowe (6-1, 4-6 [10-6]) and Jonathan Johnson (6-0, 6-3) collected victories in singles while Boutte/Rowe (6-1, 6-3) won in doubles.


Tehachapi (5-0; 2-0 SSL) has recorded victories over Antelope Valley, Lancaster, Palmdale-Highland, Wasco and Shafter so far on the season.


On the docket this week will be away matches against Taft (Tuesday) and Wasco (Thursday) at 3:30 p.m.
