Lifetime Tehachapi resident, Gerald Valdez, passed away Saturday, March 22, at his home. He was 58.

Gerald was born in Tehachapi to parents Stephen and Mary Lou Valdez on July 3, 1949.

Gerald is survived by his brothers, Ernie, Arnold and Troy Valdez; sister, Yvonne O'Connell; aunts, Jessie Mendoza, Esther Blair and Carmen Mendoza; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary and uncles, Ralph Mendoza and Bill Blair.

A Vigil Service was held Thursday, March 27, and the Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Friday, March 28, at St. Malachy Catholic Church. Organist Maria Wier accompanied Pat Gracey as she sang. Janet Rowe led the Rosary Service and Father Matthew Abba conducted both the Mass and the Committal Service at Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Westside.

Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. handled the services.
