Gaylee Hayes Whitby was born on May 26, 1935 in Delano. She attended local schools, where she was very active in school activities.
She worked as a bookkeeper for 25 years. Her last place of employment before she retired was with Grimmway Farms.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Burnett Hayes.
She is survived by three sons, Mike Whitby, of Santa Maria, Patrick Whitby, of Tehachapi, and Erin Whitby, of Bakersfield; two granddaughters, and one grandson and a sister Pat (Sody) Hayes Gassaway, of Tehachapi.
Her passing was due to complications of diabetes. She asked that no services be held, and that her ashes be scattered in the ocean at Morro Bay.
