Herbert Wayne Steffes was born in Colorado Springs, to Herbert and Loretta (Tesmer) Steffes. He was known as ‘Big Wayne.’

Wayne attended grade school in Colorado, and moved to Wisconsin where he finished high school. His parents divorced in 1978. After high school, Wayne came to California, where he met Cecilia Montanez. Three children were born into this union, Robert Wayne, Joseph Bernard, and Victoria Lynn, all three survive him.

Wayne and his family relocated to Tehachapi in August of 1995, where his mother and step-father now reside. He worked as an auto mechanic and security  guard.
He met and married Sheri Williams in Bakersfield. Wayne and Sheri, along with Steven, Stephanie and Andrea, relocated to Reno. As his health failed, he became disabled and passed away on April 1.

His father preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 2001, also his maternal grandfather as well as his paternal grandparents also preceded him.

He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Loretta Flemming and step-father David; sister Wendy Diane Alva and her children, Kaitlyn and Alex. Also many relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

No services were held and a private burial was scheduled.
