Tehachapi’s first home duel meet in two years turned out to be a very successful venture, with the Warriors (103-61) and Lady Warriors (126-37) taking victories over the visiting Wasco Tigers at Dye Natatorium.
The team of Dylan Patton, Wesley Schultz, Michael Halaska and Travis Farewell took first place in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay, with individual first place honors going to Patton (200 free, 100 breast), Shultz (200 IM, 100 fly), and Halaska (100 free, 100 back).
Randy Baiza, Chad Farewell, Chris Marsik and Spencer Williams also took first in the 400 free relay, while Williams took first place honors in the 500 free.
“We had a really good day at the pool, we showed how versatile we could be as a team, putting a lot of our swimmers in different events,” said head coach Joey Neptune.
On the girls side, Katie Chung, Jillian Taylor, Chelsi Dominguez and Sarah Brady took first in the 200 medley and 200 free relay, while Brady (200 IM), Angela Schultz (50 Free), Dominguez (100 fly), Chung (100 free, 100 back), Paige Woodward (500 free), and Jillian Taylor (100 breast) all helped Tehachapi sweep to first place finishes.
Woodward, Fallon Escoto, Schultz, and Taylor also helped Tehachapi to a gold finish in the 400 free relay.
“All around it was a great performance by everyone, to have this kind of result was a great thing for us,” added Neptune. “These duel meets are great preparation for us for the upcoming SSL finals and we’re looking forward to that.”
