James Taylor meets Jon Stewart? David Roth visits Tehachapi for the first time to present an evening of his unique original music, replete with hilarity, poignancy, spontaneity, and inspiration. David is a singer, songwriter, recording artist, and community-builder who has earned top honors at premier songwriter competitions - Kerrville (TX) and Falcon Ridge (NY) - and taken his music, experience, and expertise to a wide variety of venues in this and other countries over the last two decades.
David’s songs have found their way to Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, several Chicken Soup for the Soul books, Peter, Paul, & Mary concerts, NASA’s Goddard Space Center, and 10 recordings on the Wind River and Stockfisch (Germany) labels. Featured on many of Christine Lavin’s Rounder compilations, the former artist-in-residence at New York’s Omega Institute (and two-time national anthem singer for the Michael Jordan-era Chicago Bulls) has also been a songwriting judge at Kerrville, Napa Valley (CA), Tumbleweed (WA), Eventide Arts (MA), and the South Florida Folk Festival and taught singing, songwriting, and performance workshops nationwide.
2008 marks David’s 21st year of full-time original-music-making in concert halls, conferences, coffeehouses, camps, and special events of all kinds throughout North America. David strikes many chords, hearts, and minds with his unique music, moving tales, offbeat observations, and powerful singing and subject matter.
"David and his music will touch you to the very depths of your soul. He’ll make you laugh and cry, inspire you to rise and fly..." Jack Canfield, co-author, Chicken Soup for the Soul
"David has reached our hearts. With voices like his still singing, there's a certainty that the candle will remain lit, the hope reasserted and the dream still sung..."
Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul & Mary)
"David's pure, voice, unsurpassed instrumental ability, incredible humor, and heart-piercing, intelligent lyrics brought a feeling into our concert hall that can’t be described - except perhaps by the word "harmony". It was as if folk, New Age, comedy club, coffee house, and a bit of heaven had all come together for one evening."
James van Pelt New Haven Folk Alliance
"Very special, and worth a trip from anywhere”
Brandi Hayden, Good Folk Coffeehouse, Rowayton, CT
