On the morning of April 24, our family lost a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Joe Palos.
Joe was born on Nov. 28, 1943 in Aguascalientes, Mexico. He came to the United States when he was 4 years old. He graduated from Tehachapi High in 1962.
After graduation, he worked for Monolith Cement Company, in Tehachapi, until he was drafted to serve his country. Joe served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 as an aircraft mechanic. He served in Vietnam and was awarded with several medals for his service and conduct.
After the military he returned to work at Monolith. In February of 1968, he received his U.S. citizenship certificate. In February of 1973, he married his best friend and life-long companion, Robbie. In October of 2006, Joe completed a 42-year career at Lehigh Southwest, retiring as an electrician.
Joe was devoted to his family, loved the outdoors, and was always optimistic.
Joe is survived by the love of his life, his family; wife of 35 years, Robbie; sons Marco and Carlos, daughters Sarah, Lacy, and Samantha. Also 13 grandchildren who adored him as “Papa.” He is survived by four brothers and six sisters.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Maria.
A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 30 at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. His mass of the resurrection was held May 1. Graveside services including military honors, followed at Westside Tehachapi Public Cemetery. Father Joe Davadilla conducted the services. Wood Family Funeral Services, Inc. handled all the arrangements.
Joe will be forever missed, but always remembered by all who loved and knew him.
