Over the Spring Break, the Tehachapi Branch of the Kern County Library put on the Spring Break Mini Reading Program. Children from preschool to 8th grade were encouraged to read five books between March 18 to April 5 to earn a free ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery. The program was a great success with 233 participants taking home a reading record and 145 completing the record and receiving a coupon for their ice cream.
Thank you to Cold Stone Creamery for offering such a great prize for reading. The library staff appreciates all their efforts to make this mini reading program a success. Thank you to the Friends of the Tehachapi Library for sponsoring Jeff Lee from Steve Martin’s Working Wildlife for a great program during Spring Break.
This summer all Tehachapi school aged readers can look forward to the “Catch The Reading Bug @ the Library” Summer Reading Program. During the summer program children who read 10 books receive a free paperback book. There will be a great line of programs too.
