Welcome ladies and gentlemen to a very special edition of An A.D.D. Moment.

Welcome to Career Day!

If this is your first time ever reading my column then you are in for a treat. Because I am a genius! Everything that comes oozing out of my mouth is beautiful, insightful, intelligent, witty, amazing, funny...and amazing!

My column gives people a magnificent point of view on the world. I’m almost as brilliant as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. But come on.  Nobody can compete with his mighty wisdom and amazing outlook on the world.

While you are standing there reading this I want you to keep something in mind. Some words of wisdom, if you will: You can never have too many free pencils.

Ok, maybe it seems a little iniquitous to pretend you’re interested in becoming a hair stylist or pretending you want to be one of those totally cool Police Explorers. But if they’re giving away free stuff, you need to jump on it like the New England Patriots jump on the chance to choke in the Super Bowl.

Career Fair isn't just for the free pencils. It’s also a place for students to look into their future…and get free lollipops and brochures.

"I go to Career Fair to look for my future, and baby carrots. Mmm…baby carrots. Oh! And I want a cool police sticker! Woohoo!” Said junior, Joshua K. Pool.

“What is this Career Fair? Is it like a county fair? I’m going for a food stand. I want a taco!” Exclaimed junior and graduate-hopeful Robert Claude Berryman.

Now some people are more interested in looking for a possible future in wind engineering, or hope to find work in Boron, or some other exciting vocation.

But I feel that students have a pretty good idea about what they want to do with their life, and Career Fair isn’t going to change anyone’s life.

I do admit that Career Fair is good for students who are still weighing out their options. But it’s nothing more than that. I feel that Career Fair is meant to be fun and informational. And for some, it beats going to class.

I have to say, I find it funny. All the people walking around aimlessly looking and pointing at all the posters and different things.

Look around: See how many people have those white bags full of pencils, posters, mouse pads, combs, and many more things people feel it's necessary to take.

So walk around! Meet some people, get your hair done, and get a free pencil! (and don’t forget  to stop by the gynecology booth. Get a pencil.)    =]
