Ed Grimes, Tehachapi City Councilman and former mayor is taking part in the 2008 Tehachapi High School Career Fair today.

“I think Career Fair is a wonderful, wonderful idea and it needs to be happening more — once a semester,” Grimes commented as he stood before the CSUB booth.

Ed Grimes grew up and went to school in Tehachapi. Unfortunately, Grimes said he was not exposed to a Career Fair while attending high school, and did not have the same opportunities that THS students have today.

“I didn’t know what I wanted to be until I was thirty,” Grimes explained.  Before going to and graduating from CSUB, Grimes got married and had four children.

Grimes said he wants students to embrace this opportunity to explore career paths and create a foundation for the rest of their lives.

“It’s here for students to take advantage of,” Grimes commented.  “Find out what it is you really want and pursue it."

“You don’t realize how good you have it here,” he noted.

Students should take the advice of Ed Grimes and broaden their horizons professionally by visiting every booth and picking up information on the various institutions and organizations.

“The more we expose kids to new ideas, the better off they’ll be,” Grimes sais.  “Isn’t that the point of school?”
