George E. Miller was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Richmond, Texas and moved to Houston at a young age. He was the youngest child born to Robert and Allene Miller. He passed away on May 3, after a brief battle with liver cancer in Bear Valley Springs, which he referred to as ‘God's Country.’

George came to California after serving in the military and graduating from Prairie View College. He met the love of his life, Edith and they were married April 14, 1945.

He retired from Southern California Gas Company after forty years. He was a devoted family man, father, and husband. One of his greatest joys was to spend time with his family and friends.

He accepted Christ (in Houston, Texas) at an early age. He was a member of Community Lutheran Church when he lived in the Los Angeles area. After moving to Tehachapi, he became a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He finally found a new church family with Bear Valley Church. He loved attending church, golfing, and going on trips with the Bear Valley Travelers.

He leaves to mourn his loss his devoted wife of 63 years, Edith; daughter, Sharon Dunn (Charles) of Altadena; grandsons, James Miller Jr. (Cynthia) of Houston, TX, Donald Levingston of Carson, and Charles "Chip" Dunn III (Cynthia) of Portland, OR; a granddaughter, Chandra Dunn of Altadena; five great-grandchildren, Alisha Levingston, D'Andre Gonzalez, Taylor and Zachary Miller, and Faith Bennett-Dunn; a special niece, Doris Johnson, of Los Angeles; and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death are a son, James Miller, and a daughter, Sandra Jones.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 15, 11 a.m., at Bear Valley Church, 26180 Plateau Way.
