They have been about as dominating as a team can be over the last four seasons, and now they officially have their fourth title to show for it.
The Lady Warriors, laden with senior talent, put the exclamation point on a stellar season by winning the South Sequoia League championship last month at the finals in Taft.
The final point tally had Tehachapi garnering 322 points, followed by second place Bakersfield Christian (266), Taft (238), Shafter (192), and Wasco (71).
“Our girls really had a great season, we have a group these past four years that were leaders for us ever since they jumped in the pool,” said head coach Joey Neptune. “Each season they just got better and better and took the underclassmen under their wing and built a very solid program.”
On the boy’s side, Tehachapi fell by eight points to champion Taft (329), but had strong swims from everyone in a final 321 team point score. Wasco (183) finished in third, followed by Bakersfield Christian (157), and Shafter (118).
“Taft got 29 points in diving and we got zero, and that proved to be the difference,” added Neptune. “But that doesn’t take away at all at the great season our guys had, without a diving team in place to score as many points as we did was a great thing for us. We had a great season overall from everyone, we’re already looking forward to next year.”
