'Taste' brings great food and more to July 4

The popular annual event, Taste of Tehachapi,” sold out last year, so this time around the organizers have doubled the size. Centrally located on Green Street in the heart of downtown with eats and drinks beginning at 4 p.m. and lasting until 8 p.m. when guests will be invited to view the City of Tehachapi's fireworks just a few blocks away.
Many of the town's restaurants will be sampling their appetizers, desserts or side dishes from their menu. Several local area wineries are pouring their recent vintages including Tehachapi's own award-winning Souza Family Vineyards. Local charities will be manning some of the booths and there will be Pepsi soft drinks and juices for the youngsters.
Besides the fare at the Taste, there will be informational booths, a car detailing demonstration by On The Go, mini-massages and music by the Mama Hillybean's popular group, Friends of Cheap Yellow Mustard. Sponsors included the City of Tehachapi, Main Street Tehachapi, Oak Creek Energy, Save Mart, Albertsons and Klein, Denatale, Goldner Law Offices among others.
What with gas prices soaring, local venues are enjoying greater attendance, so if you're thinking of tasting the food and wine at the 2nd Annual Taste of Tehachapi on the Fourth of July, event planners are encouraging everyone to buy their tickets now.
Tickets are available at the Senior Center during their hours of operation, at the Farmers Market or on line at 'tasteoftehachapi.com' for $20 per person. Tickets the day of the event are $25.
About “Taste”:
Anthony McDemas created “Taste of Tehachapi” as a means to showcase local vendors, wines and restaurants including the Fourth of July event, the logo that appears on aprons, shirts and caps at the event and the web site where visitors and locals alike and learn about the wonderful destinations here in Tehachapi. His efforts won him the prestigious “Cherry Tomatoes on Steroids” award from the Kern County Board of Trade in 2006. The KCBOT recognizes small businesses that excel in their effort to promote the area.
