Myrtle Alva Routt passed away June 27, 2008 in Tehachapi. She was born November 9, 1913 in Vineland, New Jersey to Edward and Roseanne (Rodgers) Wright. Myrtle graduated from Vineland High School and Camden Commercial School. In 1948 she moved to California and in 1950 married James W. Routt. After her husband's passing in 1988, she moved to Tehachapi to be nearer family.
During her years in Tehachapi, Myrtle made many friends. She enjoyed china painting, gardening and genealogy. She was a member of Tehachapi Church of the Nazarene and the Tehachapi Humane Society.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sarah (Routt) Martin of Tehachapi, nieces; Margery Davies, Butler, PA; Karen Lopez, Tehachapi, Barbara Lee, Tucson, AZ, nephews; Richard Wright, Pittsburgh, PA, William Martin, Tustin, CA, and Roger Martin, Bakersfield, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held July 12, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Tehachapi Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Tehachapi Nazarene Church or Tehachapi Humane Society.
