The small town ambiance is gone. Not sure who made the decision but all of the produce, fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers have been relegated to the asphalt jungle of Robinson Street. That area is in full direct sun during the entire market which pretty much destroys the reason we love Farmer's Market-fresh, healthy food. Many of the produce vendors will not return next year.
This year, Railroad Park was reserved for crafts, jewelry, purses and swap meet type items. Last year, even on the hottest days, the park was very kind to highly perishable produce and the pleasure of lingering to shop in that shady green area created an atmosphere that shouted “Beautiful Tehachapi”.
The City should take steps to bring the real small town Farmer's Market back to Railroad Park, allow us to save gas and gather in our wonderful mountain paradise.
Parking is a problem for many of those who would like to attend so think about off-site parking with tram service. From farm to fork, many of us work hard to bring the best to Tehachapi. Am I the only one that has noticed the change?
