The couple, who have made Tehachapi their home since their wedding night, have donated their time and service tirelessly over the years to various community projects. Through their affiliation with the Masonic order they assisted with the planning and organizing of events such as: the Mountain Festival, the Old Timer's Picnic, numerous dances & charity events for the DeMolay and Rainbow Girls, and even the Thanksgiving Dinners served to the elderly at the Masonic Temple.
Charles, or "Chuck" to his friends, taught elementary school for 33 years in the Tehachapi Unified School district. Chuck has been very active with the Tehachapi Community Congregational Church for nearly all the years he has lived in Tehachapi, and still serves as an usher. Chuck can be found nearly every day having coffee with his friends at his favorite local hang-out, Kelsey's Diner. Jean was a stay at home Mom until their son Scott and daughter Diane entered the upper levels of grade school. She then began working, first as a Librarian for the Tehachapi Unified school district, then devoting the balance of her career as a Teacher's Aid for Educationally handicapped children. Jean also served for many years on the Board of the California School Employees Association. Chuck and Jean are proud grandparents of their son Scott's boy, Jacob Rogers.
