Have you ever wondered where our water supply comes from? Do we have enough water? At what point will we run out or need to ration water? What about all these septic tanks, are they at risk to contaminate our water supply? What if there is an earthquake, how will it affect the water that is imported into the Tehachapi area? With California’s drought, was does this all mean? Does ongoing subdividing of properties threaten our water supply?
Smart Growth-Tehachapi Valleys (SGTV) will be hosting a special open meeting on Saturday, July 19th from 10-12Noon at the Moose Lodge, 123 West F Street (corner of Curry and F). Everyone is invited and the meeting is free. There will be a panel present of people with water expertise, including representation from the City, the Water District, and many of the Community Services Districts (CSDs). The Kern County Planning Department will be represented. The panel will focus on explaining where our water supply comes from, how we handle waste water, and will talk about the threats to our water supply.
Water is a huge issue in California currently, and Smart Growth- Tehachapi Valleys hopes this gathering will serve to educate us all.
SGTV is a local organization that promotes a high quality community for the Tehachapi Valleys region. For more information, contact Janice Armstrong at 821-0346.
