The entire family of long time Tehachapi resident Mr. Kelcy Owens wants to thank our friends and all the people of the Tehachapi community for the prayers and well wishes in our time of sorrow. The extended hands and affection so many of you shared certainly has helped us during this loss. The list of people who stood by us and provided help is a long list and a true tribute to the man we all came to know and love.
Our family also wants to share a “Special Thank You” to these people:
To Dr. Horowitz for your knowledge and ability to care for Alzheimer patients. Without you we would not have been able to care for Kelcy in our home. Your kindness and care allowed this man dignity in time of despair and our gratefulness for your services is never-ending.
To our dear friends Rosa Herrera, Debbie Freitag and Alice Clark for the daily care of Kelcy. The simple acts of kindness and love expressed in the daily acts of care giving are a tribute to our father and Margie’s husband of 59 years.
The last four months of Kelcy’s life that were so difficult, you at Optimal Hospice provided a fabulous service. Thank you Mary Vickery and Yvonne Rypkema for being there with us all.
Mr. Coy Blair, a friend to Kelcy and his only time-honored brother. You being there with him and our family to help take care of all the requests are so appreciated. Including the call to Mr. Jerry Woods whose services went beyond professional in taking care of Kelcy, they were as the long time friend and next-door neighbor. We thank both of you for everything. To his life long friends James Smith, Paul Smith, Bob Johnson and Jimmy Gilliland for being so readily available to help.
Father Davadilla of the Catholic Church for the eloquent Mass and fitting sentiments of Kelcy’s life. To the Grace Angel Band, Tracy Barns, Jerry Mulkins and Maria Werth whose music soothed our souls and helped calm our hearts. A more than fitting send off to Kelcy and it is greatly appreciated.
To the Tehachapi Police Department for the arrangement of the Funeral Precession and a brief stopping moment in front of our beloved Kelcy’s favorite stomping grounds, his restaurant.
To the members of the Tehachapi Masonic Lodge and what was an awe-inspiring presentation given by Mr. Paul Smith. You delivered to us all a very sentimental sermon. One that will reside in our hearts, helping us to properly place our sorrow in the send off to your fellow Lodge member.
Last, each and every one of you who sent cards, flowers, gave Mass cards, brought food and donated to Optimal Hospice in honor of Kelcy. All of you and your precious gifts, kindness, warm wishes and prayers will always be remembered.
Sincerely,
Margie Owens and Family
