Elk on Stallion Spring Roads:
Hanging out near the roads has been deadly for our past herds of local elk, Elk crossing signs (big black on yellow elk signs) are posted on but a few roads in Kern County, Comanche Point Rd an extention of Banducci Rd in Stallion Spriongs would be one of those few roads. This crossing begins near St Andrews Dr. to just before Stallion Springs Dr. north end. Early morning and late afternoon commuters tend to drive a little fast in these areas and forget about the elk, killing 4 cows last year that I know of on Comanche Point Rd alone. Even the careful driver gets hit by these huge critters occasionally. Knowing the elk are out and about will help avoid serious damage to your vehicle and the elk. Just a heads up for our local commuters.
